7 Easy and Affordable Home Makeover Tips

Mar 30, 2020

Good news everyone, we have the inside scoop with the best tips and tricks to give your home the makeover that it deserves. There are many ways that we can enhance our living spaces that don’t break the bank. From plants, paint, and shelving there are endless possibilities for your home.

1. Organization & Declutter: First things first, declutter. This can be one of the hardest things to do. There is always something that has a sentimental value or something we are just saving it because “we might need it later”. GET RID OF IT ALL. These things have been sitting in the dust and if we haven’t used it the past year chances are, we won’t again. Once we have passed phase one the next is find a proper place for what we are keeping. Personally, Ikea has always been my go-to for organization. They have all sorts of gadgets that can enhance your space, are easy to assemble, and are inexpensive.
2. Add a Few Indoor Plants: A few potted plants can brighten up a room [or a dull corner] and change the energy completely. Flowers are always tricky since they go in a vase. But don't limit yourself, be creative, you don't only need to use those vases. A cute mason jar, pitcher, or even mugs can work for your flowers.

3.  Change Your Door and Cabinet Knobs: Organization in the right places not only makes a space look better; it helps make it feel better. Here are some small but drastic changes that you can do to your home to give it that same new home feeling. Changing your door and cabinet knobs is one. A fresh coat of paint on those old cabinet doors and replacing some of those cabinet knobs with new ones can make a world of a difference.
4. Accessories: Yes, that's right accessories are not only for your outfit, they can be applied to anything if your life needs a little spice. Having things set up in a visual esthetic manner is very important to the eye. For example, Dining Table Centerpieces such as a vase on the table. These little things will turn your house into a home and a great way of incorporating your personality! Places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and The Container Store have super cost-effective organizational products. In other rooms, invest in decorative baskets, bins, hooks, and shelving to give any room a neat facelift!

5. Add Some Color: This is definitely a biggie. Painting your space, the right color is extremely important. It sets the tone to the whole house; you want to make sure to choose something that will refresh the room. For example, some people like to go paint an accent wall. Since not all of us are risk takers with using wild colors an accent wall is perfect just for this. The beauty of the accent wall is in its cost effectiveness and ability to capture the eye. And the best part you don't need to buy as much paint!
6. Small kitchen fixes: The average kitchen remodel requires a lot of cash and a lot of labor. Most of the time our kitchen lacks TLC. There are a few simple tricks that will make you do a double take (in your own kitchen!). First, simple aesthetic adjustments like a new rug in front of the sink, a couple of plants on the countertop, window treatments, or new small appliances are an inexpensive way to add character to your kitchen. If you’re pleased with the bare bones of the kitchen, accentuate them with the smaller details.

 7.  Shelving: This brings me to shelving. Shelving is one of my personal favorites because I truly do not like seeing stuff everywhere, so this is my go to. It's super easy and you can incorporate it in every room. They will create great storage space, you will be able to display your favorite items and collections.
